After only little time last year for some photo projects, I bring a collection of the most impressing locations I visited. I really was surprised by the wilderness of these locations, ok, I went at times when there wasn´t any or nearly any tourism. So practically nearly alone and noboday around. The Fanal - fairy forest - was absolutely fascinating. I will add an extra series with the Fanal Laurel trees in a next project. Hope you like the photos and get stimulated for some beautiful days outside normal life....

A study on some photos I did on my last trip to Galicia. Close to Valdoviño at the west coast of Spain, I found this beautiful chapel and couldn't hesitate to play around with the photos and made some changes to the view and atmosphere.

During a rainy day in Sicily we used the time to search for beautiful flowers growing all over.. With an external pocket lamp we put light on the flowers to improve the colors of them as the sky was grey and cloudy.

A place I like to go to again and again. It always appears in different light, colors and atmospheres. Always a great hike to go there and rest some hours looking for the best photo spot. :-)

The year is close to its end and looking back it seems to be a different world than the years before... or we are more or feel more affected by the things happening around us. But anyway I want to wish everybody a happy new year and all the best for 2023 …

Part two of the foto tour in Galicia in spain. We were blessed by some absolutely sunny days with perfect temperatures. Galicia is a really wonderful location to find a wonderful nature with not that much tourists ... at least at this time of the year.

The beauty of Galicia reminds me a lot on northern landscapes like Scotland or Norway, but on totally different temperatures. The north western part of spain has a still warm climate, but with a lot of rain which creates this wild and green part of the country.

A hike along the Fürstin-Gina-Weg (Princess-Gina-Track) shows the beauty of the Swiss/Liechtenstein and Austrian alps. It was surprisingly sunny that day, as I had expected the afternoon to be rainy, but I hiked all time in beautiful sunshine. A track worth to go...

The Silvretta High Alpine Road (Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse) leads from Vorarlberg Montafon over the Vermunt and the Bielerhöhe through the mountains of the Silvretta into the Tyrolean Paznaun.

The leaves are nearly down on the ground and the next Föhn storm could bring them all down finally, so I made a tour to catch the autumn colors in the trees of the beeches on the opposite mountain.. I went to my favourite place with a very old beech stock and was surprised how colorful they looked in this late afternoon light. My favourite tree, a very old and majestic beech seems to be away... maybe a thunderstroke of another storm brought her down. It´s a pity, but anyway it´s brother and sister trees shined in the full light of the autumn sun.

I did these photos during a 2 week bicycle trip through the southern part of Tuscany in Italy.

Grimsel pass

A hidden location at the end from lake Fälensee in the Alpsteinn of the Swiss Alps. It reminds me a lot on the film set location Höfn in Iceland where a Viking film should be shot.

The later the day, the better the light.... During the whole day the rocks were covered in thick clouds. Just in the evening it cleared up, although the "Saxer Lücke" did not get the light I had hoped for. But the sun breaking through the clouds gave some beautiful spots..

I tried to photograph a fascinating moutain formation in the Swiss alps in the region Alpstein, which is called "Saxer Lücke", but had to go several times, as each time the rocks were covered in thick clouds when I finally arrived there. This time it worked, also clouds were coming and going, but now they created more an interesting atmosphere around the rocks.

After heavy rainfalls we have right now high water at lake constance which in this case led to not often seen situations. Fortunately, no major damage was caused by the floods.

The future has many names: For the weak it is the unattainable, for the fearful the unknown, for the courageous the opportunity. ... Victor Hugo I started my trip to a wonderful location, but when I arrived at the top of the mountains I found myself in a thick misty cloud which prevented me to do any photos of the place I wanted to do. In this photo here I had at least a little larger view... still not far enough for the shot I wanted to do. So it still keeps valid: the best shot I have is the one I do tomorrow :-)

Beginning of summer and after a long wet and cold period today we finally had temperatures worthy of the name summer. So I did my first summertime tour and thought about the beautiful song from Ella Fitzgerald Summertime and the livin' is easy Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high Your daddy's rich and your ma is good lookin' So hush, little baby, baby, don't you cry.

A hike around "Klöntalersee" , a natural lake in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland. I started late, but arrived in time for a wonderful sunset.

Tiny little wild tulips which I really enjoy to see each spring at the same place under a big pine. The colors are amazing when the sun shines into them. I love it!

Lake Cauma is a mountain lake in the canton of Grisons/Switzerland that is notable for its strong turquoise-blue color, which is caused by light scattering off tiny inorganic suspended particles. It has no surface discharge and its level fluctuates by up to seven meters annually, providing an insight into the current state of groundwater levels.

A walk through a closeby area on a sunny afternoon when the sun finally broke through. It snowed a lot the last night but unfortunately it's still +1°C during the day, so the snow is melting and extremely heavy which resulted in a lot broken branches. Even a little dangerous going under some of these trees.

The sun dissapears early at this time of the year at the Flüela pass (2383m above sea level). As a result, the lake Schottensee is already covered with thick layers of ice and ice scaters are circling around on the lake. Fascinating to see the water color like a big milk reservoir.

One of the most beautiful lakes in Grisons, Switzerland, which I love a lot. Each time I go there I find different colors, moods and atmosphere.... always fascinating.

The Landwasser Viaduct close to Filisur, Grisons, Switzerland, was constructed between 1901 and 1902 on behalf of the Rhaetian Railway. It has a height of 65 metres and a length of 136 metres. Since 2008 the Viaduct belongs to the UNESCO-World Heritage.

A bike tour up the mountain in the late evening extended over sunset resulted in icy fingers and freezing ears during the ride down :-) But it was worth it. :-)

A walk up to Alvier, a mountain in the east Swiss alps. Unfortunately it was a little misty, but nevertheless it was a wonderful hike up.

A walk around Lake Cresta a few weeks ago. It's always fascinating to see this lake at different times of the day and the year and always finding a totally different atmosphere.

Tolox, a little village in Andalusia in the province of Malaga in southern spain astonished me by its famous street arts which are done in a street art contest in several years. It's a nice place as starting point for hikes through the Sierra de las Nieves.

A snowshoe walk close to Zug in Vorarlberg with icy winds in sun and shadows.. even with icy parts which let me drop on the ground several times.. thanks god without damaging anything apart from now some multicolored spot at hips and knees :-)

Sonnenkopf Vorarlberg A wonderful hike with snowshoes through the mountains of Sonnenkopf in Vorarlberg/Austria with some was friends was a wonderful experience during the last days of 2019.

A view of Elgol in Scotland, Isle of Skye, done with a Lee Big Stopper, with not really optimal weather. The filter resulted in a more or less mystical atmosphere. If been several times at this location and it's surprising, that each photo I do there has a totally different "feeling".

The redwood species contains the largest and tallest trees in the world. These trees can live for thousands of years. It was a short but fascinating walk through this wonder of mother nature. I still feel deeply impressed by the elegance of these majestic trees surviving lots of our generations. Lets take care of them and hope they will live thousands years more on earth!

On our drive to Assynt we passed this beautiful area with a wonderful cover of early morning mist in the valley. We had to stop and take some photos of it, but a few minutes later the mist was gone and mystery away.

A sunset shooting at Rhue Lighthouse. It took us several hours to get the final shots of this lighthouse shooting. The light changed every minute by the fast movements of the clouds.

El Caminito del Rey (The King's Little Path) is a walkway, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ardales in the province of Málaga, Spain. The name derives from the original name of Camino del Rey (King's Pathway), abbreviated locally to el caminito. The walkway had fallen into disrepair and was partially closed for over a decade. After four years of extensive repairs and renovations, the walkway re-opened in 2015. It has been known in the past as the "world's most dangerous walkway" following five deaths in 1999 and 2000. Ronda, in Andalucia A view that lets me think I am in a movie of the Lord of the Rings during the fight for Middle Earth.. at least when I stand in front of this giant bridge. A very beautiful city which I would like to visit again.

Some days on a trip in New York. A city which surprised me by its style of life. It's a Mega Metropolis, but life is relaxed and enjoyable in all areas. A place to visit.. Just do it :-)

Portrait shooting in the heart of New York / Manhattan

A few days as a stopover in Big Apple gave some good impressions of the city. But a few days is not enough to experience this area. After one week you know where to go to, where to take your shots, but nevertheless I tried to give an impression of this vibrant, helpful and intersting city.

During a sunrise in Fraxern, Austria. The sun came up the mountain and glowed into the tree for about 20 min. After that the sky got muddy with Sahara sand in the air and the glow of the 3 trees got disolved.

A surprising afternoon with unexpected species at the beach on the Canarian Islands.

A wonderful day in the Austrian alps at Sonnenkopf in perfect spring time temperatures.

A tour which was in two ways surprising.... first it was snowing that heavily that my backpack with the camera gear got covered with snow each time I took the camera out of the backpack. And second I found out that my lens is defect ... it stucks at 14mm and as you see is not sharp in the left area.

Snow impressions from Sonnenkopf / AT. The avalanche risk was still high at level 3, but at the high and plain elevations of Sonnenkopf it was safe to walk around and enjoy the views. With snow heights of 3m were really heavy to walk through even with snowshoes and furthermore at -12°C with a nice wind blowing. But it was a great experience in nature..

The day started grey and cloudy and was most of the time like this. Nevertheless it was a winter day and the weather forecast says melting temperatures for the next days... so it was "a must" to go out and get some impressions of the first days of winter 2019. Hope you like it!

A different time at the same place trying different exposures and different grayfilters. A lot of people asked me, how can you do a long exposure with the sun still that bright? But it was the perfect place for experiments and it looks some people got inspired :-)

A few days in Yellowstone National Park give a first impression of the wonders you can see here. A beautiful place and a place to go back.

Cleared up for minutes... A view from Fronalpstock down to Lake Lucerne and Lake Zug. It was a sunny day, but the top of Fronalpstock was always covered with heavy clouds so there was nearly no way to look down to the lakes. I waited nearly 2 hours for the sky to clear up a little bit and finally I got a slot of 3 minutes where the sky opened. After that I was glad when I could see something for the next 20 meters.

Tarasp Castle is a castle in Switzerland, near Scuol, in Lower Engadin, Grisons.

I think this is a view which lot of view might know, but it looks much different normally. At least the photos which I have seen from this place looked totally different. It's a mountain view in Grand Teton National Park at Jenny Lake, but actually you are glad, when you can see the mountains at all. The big fires in California and the northern parts of the USA cover the landscape in mist and smoke. This was a moment of a little clearer view, at the morning I could more or less only see some shadows of the mountains. I hoped for some colorviews during sunset or sunrise, but even during this time it didn't change, perhaps it got touched in a little more earthy or muddy tones. But such is the photographers life.... you have to stick with what you find in that moment. So as a result I did a photo of the Grand Tetons which is in this way very unusual..

Inspired by some very good fine art photographys from Richard Terpolillis I made a first step into this kind of workflow and came out with a result that at least I wanted to achieve when I looked at the untreated color version of it.

This series was taken the last day before the Silvretta High Alpine Road got closed for winter. It was a wonderful sunny day, freezing cold in the morning and much warmer over the day and the last chance to go to this place for this year. We had expected some more snow, but the ice floes were a good compensation. It was fascinating and a little scary hearing the drone of the cracking ice plates. A sound I've never heard before and which was much louder as I had expected it to be.

The landscapes and seascapes in Iceland impress by its powerful and unusual appearance. A place to go to again and again.

A tour through the south of Iceland

A visit to the land of fire and ice..... The vision of this land is really confirmed - a lot of extremes in a wonderful mostly untouched landscape. A place to go there again and again.

More or less unexpected I passed this location and had to stop, to take some shots. As it was not planned, a tripod was missing, but with the help of some wodden poles from a fence nearby I got it working.

The last leaves in autumn on an old majestic tree in the mountains of the Alps. We should take care of it....

A shot I did at nearly complete darkness. Only a little light between the clouds was available. We were on our way down the mountain and had hoped to arrive at our alpin hut with some light, but this view forced us to give up our earlier plans and take some shots with rest of the available light . For the walk down the mointain we then had to use our flashlights.
